After getting the wrong haircut earlier this year, Cameron Diaz admitted that she was reduced to tears.

While appearing on "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" Tuesday, the actress explained that her hairstylist and friend accidentally cut her hair too short.

"There was a little misunderstanding," said the "What To Expect When You're Expecting" star. "I said, 'Oh I just want a little bit off.' And, it went from here to here [indicating two different hair lengths]."

The 39-year-old actress added, "It was one of those moments where I just couldn't … I burst into tears."

The haircut took Diaz's fans by surprise and received mixed reviews from fashion outlets. Continuing to explain the new short hairstyle, Diaz said she also had to adjust to the change.

"I felt so vulnerable," said the actress speaking to Leno. "For a women to all of a sudden have no hair, oh my God."

Diaz also admitted that she was angry with her hairdresser.

"I yelled at her, I screamed at her," she said, before quickly adding, "I felt really bad, she felt really bad, she started crying, I started crying, a couple of other people started crying. I ended up writing her a few emails after, the next couple of days, assuring her I wasn't going to kill her."

Despite the accidental haircut, Diaz continues to light up the big screen and shared that she is excited about turning 40.

"I love getting older," said the actress. "I don't think we embrace getting older enough. We don't embrace our older generation, and those are the ones that teach us everything. I love having wisdom and learning about myself and knowing myself better."

"What to Expect When You're Expecting" arrives in theaters May 18 sees stars such as Elizabeth Banks, Brooklyn Decker, Jennifer Lopez, Chris Rock, and Dennis Quaid, among many others.
