On Sunday night, TLC debuted a new series, "Angels Among Us," featuring Rosie Cepero, who claims she can speak with guardian angels, but is it actually possible to do so? The public, as well as the Bible has mixed answers when it comes to that particular question.

Cepero spoke with The Christian Post about an ability she claims to have that allows her to speak with unseen beings, which she said began when she was just three-years-old. Her mother and grandmother also claimed to be able to communicate with angels. Cepero was raised as a Catholic, however, she no longer identifies as such.

"My first encounter – I was 3-years-old – I remember people speaking to me, telling me how they would always be by my side, protecting me, teaching me things, and they would be with me for the rest of my life. As a little girl, to me it was normal, and I would always communicate with them. My mom was also very spiritual, and as a Catholic, we were taught to believe in angels," Cepero explained.

"I always believe that all are born with a guardian angel – it's a God-given gift for everyone – I would love for everyone to know this; not everyone knows this. Do I believe that everyone can talk to their guardian angels? Yes," Cepero told CP. "What they need to do is relax and learn to watch for the signs, whether it's a feather or a smell, they have their own signs of communication."

She also claims that what she believes to be guardian angels will appear once humans attempt to communicate with them.

"Every angel I meet is a divine light, being of God. I always pray to God first every day for my blessings; I thank God for His gifts, that I'm His vessel and that I'm here to deliver messages. And you know, guardian angels only appear when there is a message. Are they always with us? Yes. Do they always give me messages for others? Not necessarily, but once we communicate with them, they will reveal themselves," Cepero explained.

Scripture tells people to be wary of believing in and blindly trusting spirits because it can lead to harm rather than good and, as theologian and pastor John Calvin pointed out, angels and spirits can often lead people away from God instead of drawing them closer.

"Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world. By this you know the Spirit of God: every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God," the Bible says in 1 John 4:1.

"As God does not make [the angels] ministers of his power and goodness to share his glory with them, so he does not promise us help through ministry in order that we should divide our trust between them and him. [Angels] do lead us away unless they lead us by the hand straight to him, that we may look upon him, call upon him, and proclaim him as our sole helper; unless we regard them as his hands that are moved to no work without his direction; unless they keep us in the one Mediator, Christ, that we may wholly depend upon him, be brought to him, and rest in him," Calvin wrote.

"Angels Among Us" airs Sunday nights on TLC.
