The Wisconsin Badgers will play the South Carolina Gamecocks in the Capital One Bowl on New Year's Day 2014 in an intriguing match up that should be a fantastic one to watch. The game will start at 1 p.m. ET and will be broadcast on TV on the ABC network. The game will also be available to watch online through free live stream (details below).

Both of these teams had BCS bowl aspirations, but they will both have to settle for the Capital One Bowl instead, and face off to see which team was the superior in their search for a BCS placing.

The Gamecocks finished the season with a 10-2 record, where as the Badgers finished with a marginally worse 9-3. South Carolina are ranked 8th, where as Wisconsin are ranked 19th, and this will be the first time these two teams meet.

The teams are known as very strong teams with solid defensive set ups.

Wisconsin safety Dez Southward told the school's official website: "We're not taking this game lightly at all. This is an enormous game. Just because it's not the Rose Bowl, just because it's not a BCS bowl game, it doesn't mean the opponent is not the same caliber. That's the case with South Carolina. They're above and beyond almost anybody we've played this year."

Wide receiver Damiere Byrd could miss today's game and that would be a big blow. He needed arthroscopic knee surgery after suffering an injury in practice earlier this month and is rumored not to have recovered in time for the big game today.
