'Captain America: Civil War' News, Spoilers: Anthony Mackie Says Film Will Be 'Wildly Funny;' James Gunn Commends Tom Holland

Though various fan theories suggest that the ending of "Captain America: Civil War" could have viewers weeping in their theater seats, Anthony Mackie now says that the upcoming film will also bring the laughs.

Following suggestions that one of the Avengers could meet his or her demise in the third "Captain America" stand-alone film and after Sebastian Stan commented that the film will get "a little heartbreaking," Marvel fans have been a bit worried that "Civil War" could be a bit too emotionally draining.

Earlier this month, Stan, who plays Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier in the Marvel Cinematic Universe films, said, "I think it's going to be an epic experience for people." Speaking to Entertainment Tonight during a promotional tour for the upcoming film "The Bronze," the actor revealed, "I'm very excited for people to hear and see what side everybody ends up on, 'cause it gets a little heartbreaking."

Nevertheless, in a recent interview with ET, Mackie, who plays Sam Wilson/Falcon, said that it won't all be suspense and drama.

"t's a very smart, very suspenseful movie -- but it's WILDLY funny at the same time," the actor said. "There's some OUT LOUD laughs in the movie."

Meanwhile, James Gunn, who helmed Marvel's "Guardians of the Galaxy" in 2014 and is currently working on its sequel, "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2," recently took to Twitter to heap praises on Tom Holland, the new Spider-Man.

Spidey made his much-anticipated debut in "Civil War" promotional material in the film's new full-length trailer, much to the delight of fans around the world.

"I think Tom Holland is the best Spidey/Peter Parker ever by a country mile," Gunn wrote on Thursday, March 10. He later followed this up with more praise, saying, "He is to Spidey as Downey is to Iron Man, Ledger was to the Joker, Pratt is to Star-Lord."

"Captain America: Civil War" drops May 6.
