Carmelo Anthony has ended his 15 day fast following the New York Knicks' three-game losing streak.

The Knicks Small Forward had given up food for "spiritual reasons," which critics suspected may have affected his usually flawless court performance. On Monday Anthony, 28, admitted that the fast was beginning to take a toll on his body, according to News Day.

"I usually do it sometimes just to get some clarity in my life … Spiritual reasons. I'm done now. I can't do it no more," Anthony told News Day after Monday's 100-87 matinee victory over New Orleans.

"It's a long story. I haven't had a good meal in about 2 1/2 weeks. No meats, no carbs, anything like that. I don't know how I was going through competing at a high level. Just sometimes these past three, four games where the body just feels depleted out there and just trying to find a way to get energy," he explained. "But like I said, I surrender. I'm done. I'm going to get some food right now."

Knicks coach Mike Woodson claimed that he was not concerned about Anthony's fast, insisting that the NBA star is highly capable on court either way.

"It's not a big thing. It's a big thing to you guys but it's not a big thing to me. I take Melo fasting or not Melo fasting. It doesn't matter to me," Woodson told the New York Post.

"I'm not concerned what Melo eats as long as he's ready to play. He's going to eat the right foods and do all the necessary things to be ready to play basketball. I've got that much faith when it comes to that," he added.

Anthony admitted that he was ready to eat a hearty meal again, and contemplated chicken or steak. He also made light of the recent honey cheerios debacle which saw him serve a one-game suspension for confronting Boston Celtics player Kevin Garnett both on and off the court.

"Maybe some chicken, maybe a steak. I don't know I need to eat something," Anthony said when asked what his first hearty meal would be.

Garnett had reportedly told Anthony that Lala, his wife of two years, "tastes like honey nut cheerios." The Knicks star joked about potentially also feasting on bowl of cheerios before opening up about his reported marital woes.

"I'm definitely going to get a bowl of [cheerios], for sure," Anthony said at the launch of his new signature sneaker, Air Jordan Melo M9, at Cipriani on Wall St.

"[Lala and I] have our time. We have our down time," he said. "She works. I work. We make it work. Communication is the key."
