Carrie Underwood Takes Mission Trip to Haiti, Photo Surfaces

Carrie Underwood is one of the busiest country music stars in the world, but the singer still made time to take a mission trip to Haiti this week.

The "Blown Away" singer was raised in a Christian household and maintains her faith even after winning "America Idol" and becoming one of the most popular singers in the music industry today. A frequent Twitter user, Underwood has not tweeted since June 12 – but for a good reason.

On Thursday, another Twitter user named Rhae Lauren shared a photo revealing Underwood's whereabouts, reported CMT.com. The Nashville native indicated that she and a group including Underwood were visiting the Caribbean country on behalf of Danita's Children, a nonprofit that rescues and cares for impoverished and orphaned children.

"The girls of the trip getting ready to cross the [Dominican Republic]/Haiti boarder this morning," Lauren posted in the caption of the photo. "Excited for our first day. So proud of everyone and how much we were able to accomplish! @danitaschildren #haiti #dentalmissiontrip."

Lauren's photo featured eight women casually clad while posting together in front of what appears to be a health services facility. Underwood is barely recognizable wearing her hair back and dressed in blue scrubs paired with aviator sunglasses and a backpack in the photo.

The image is a far cry from the singer's recent red carpet appearances at both the Billboard Music Awards as well as the CMT Music Awards. Nevertheless, Underwood remains rooted in her faith, and the singer credits Nashville for creating an environment where it is easy to practice Christianity.

"It's easy to be a Christian in Nashville," the Grammy Award-winner said during a conference in April.

Furthermore, Underwood's faith plays an important role when in her marriage to NHL player Mike Fisher. The singer once admitted that she would give up her career in order to support her four-year marriage.

"He knows [performing] is what I love, and he completely supports me in it, as I do him," Underwood told People magazine. "But if Mike ever told me he needed me to quit, I'd quit. When you make that promise to somebody, and you stand before God and your family and friends, you've got to do everything that you possibly can to make that work."
