Carrie Underwood Wants to Raise Son as a 'Loving' Christian

Carrie Underwood recently opened up about her goal as a parent to her son and shared how she and her husband are molding Isaiah Michael to become a "loving" Christian.

In a recent interview, the proud first-time mom said she wants her son Isaiah Michael to grow up as a Christian with a loving heart toward other people. Carrie Underwood also talked about her struggles with motherhood and how she keeps her marriage with her husband Mike Fisher alive, according to People.

The proud Christian mom, who also supports gay marriage, shared how she and her husband plan to teach Isaiah on how to deal with the LGBT community. The Fisher couple said they want their 7-month-old baby to learn how to deal with everyone with a "loving heart," regardless of who they are, the report relays.

"Mike and I talk about teaching him how to approach everybody in a loving way, even if they're not the same," Underwood told People. "And to try to say, 'You know what? God loves them, so it should be my job to do my best to love them as well.' "

The famous country singer also said they are using the Bible as the basis for their parenting practices. In fact, they have begun reading Bible stories to Isaiah as early as now, in accordance with the instructions stated in Proverbs 22:6. The Biblical verse teaches parents to "train" a child in the right way, and he will never forget the lessons even when he grows old, the Gospel Herald reports.

Aside from that, the outspoken Christian singer said they plan to raise their son in church where he will be with people who share the same faith and who endeavor to raise their own kids in a godly manner. Underwood said this is their way of maintaining a loving environment around Isaiah, the report details.

Carrie Underwood and Mike Fisher got married in July 2010 and announced their first child in September this year with the help of their furry friends Ace and Penny. Underwood considers her Christian faith as the most important thing in her life and she often expresses this through her faith-inspired songs.
