Jennifer Lopez’s rumored new boyfriend, 24-year-old Casper Smart is reportedly facing possible jail time stemming from a drag racing incident in California last year; he is currently out on $26,000 bail.

Accordingly, the dancer, whose real name is Beau Paul Smart, pleaded not guilty during a trial surrounding the incident, but later changed his plea to guilty. Smart face sentencing early next year and based on reports, could see jail time.

The young dancer is rumored to have been dating Lopez even before the actress and singer announced  her split from singer Marc Anthony, after seven years of marriage:

"We have decided to end our marriage. This was a very difficult decision. We have come to amicable conclusion on all matters."

The split from Anthony was in July and it is reported that Lopez began dating Smart in May.

The relationship with Smart, who is facing possible jail time, is reminiscent of Lopez’s relationship with music mogul Sean “P. Diddy” Combs, when the two were arrested in a nightclub shooting incident in New York City in 1999. The couple tried fleeing the club after shots rang out.

Lopez who has always denied involvement in the shooting was never charged. Combs faced trial on weapons charges, but was acquitted.

Lopez, who appeared at this year’s American Music Awards and wowed audiences as she performed a medley of her hits, picked up honors for best artist in the Latin Music Category. Later, she and Smart made news as they appeared romantic at an after party.

Smart, a well established dancer has worked with a number of celebrated artists, including Beyonce, Nicki Minaj, Eminem, and Jordan Sparks to name a few.

The dancer has also appeared in a number of episodes of the TV show "Glee", and, according to his bio, was supposed to perform with Michael Jackson in his “This is it “ world tour.
