'Castle' Casting News, Update: Season 8 New Episodes To Feature A Twentysomething Alexis

The upcoming new episodes of the 8th season of ABC's hit action drama TV series "Castle" is slated to showcase the growth of Rick's (Nathan Fillion) daughter, Alexis (Molly Quinn).

The latest casting updates from TV Line said that fans will find the character, which has been on the show for seven seasons, already blossoming into a "young woman as opposed to a child."

Now that she's a grown-up, the "twentysomething" girl will be "more sophisticated" and that her "relationship with her father will change because she's not a little girl anymore."

But of course, Alexis won't be taking her journey into adulthood alone. The media outlet added that that Miss Castle will take some rearing instructions from an "influential mentor," a "Scotland Yard alum-turned-security specialist Hayley Shipton [Toks Olagundoye]."

"Hayley is going to help Alexis find herself," executive producer Terence Paul Winter told TV Line. The EP added that their relationship exudes "a different kind of energy" as compared to her interning with M.E. Lanie (Tamala Jones).

"What we've shot with [Alexis and Hayley] together is magic, it really is," the showrunner added (via TV Line).

Co-exec producer Alexi Hawley previously spoke with Entertainment Weekly about Olagundoye coming over to the show.

"[Toks] plays a really dynamic, fun character," Hawley said (via TV Line). "It's a voice that the show doesn't have. What's great about her is Castle [Nathan Fillion] has been investigating cases police-adjacent, so it's always about doing things the way police would. She doesn't do things that way, so that fun dynamic of, 'No, we break in rather than get a warrant,' is kind of fun."

Meanwhile, Fillion made the buzz this week when he revealed during his appearance at the Chicago Wizard World Comic Con that if given the chance to play a superhero character, it would be this one:

"I think I could take a pretty good crack at Booster Gold. That's kind of my niche: show-offy, vain… I think I could handle that. Not to bright," the 44-year-old Canadian actor said (via Screen Rant).

"Castle" Season 8 premieres Monday, September 21 at 10 p.m. on ABC.
