'Castle' Season 7 Cast News, Finale Episode Spoilers: Beckett Makes Her Choice, Will There Be a Season 8?

ABC recently revealed the summary for the finale episode of its hit police procedural TV drama series "Castle" and it appears that someone might be leaving the show for good.

The synopsis indicates that a death in the woods would draw Castle's (Nathan Fillion) attention. The case would reawaken a "terrifying and defining event in his childhood." What starts as just another normal investigation, Castle's prodding on the matter will drove him into obsession as he attempts "to unearth answers that have eluded him for decades."

All the while, Beckett (Stana Katic) will face a "crossroads of her own."

Series creator Andrew W. Marlowe spoke about Beckett.

"We've been building this storyline for Beckett where she's feeling a little bit like she needs to do something more, something a little bit bigger ... Where does she go with family? Where does she go with her career?" Marlowe told TV Line. "So she'll end up facing some choices in this that are a little bit unexpected, that may change the trajectory of where she's going."

TV Line meanwhile probed further into the issue about the show's renewal. Fans were definitely hoping for another season but according to Marlowe's statements, only "the gods" know.

"We were trying to craft a show that had a satisfying conclusion if it is indeed the conclusion, but also some really great, interesting, compelling springboards into next season's storytelling — if the gods shine upon us and we're allowed to continue," he said.

For the meantime, the upcoming episode of Season 7 is titled "In Plane Sight." A synopsis posted on the Futon Critic says that Castle's trip to London will be interrupted when the flight's marshal was found murdered.

"Castle" airs Monday at 10 p.m. on ABC.
