Aside from fans' fears that a divorce is brewing, there have been speculations that love interests may be prepped for the two as the story goes on, the rumor one that loyal fans of the couples immediately slammed.

In a recent interview, the showrunners have explained their side, in a bid to somehow ease the fans' fears and disappointment over Kate's decision to leave her famed novelist husband behind.

Alexi Hawley told The Hollywood Reporter that fans should just stay put and relax, noting that while the wedding happened last season, the pair have already survived several seasons together and the showrunners are just thinking of putting "an obstacle in their way." She clarified, "Nobody's getting divorced. They're not splitting up forever."

According to Hawley, the space and time that Kate asked from Rick are actually a sign of her love as she doesn't want to get her husband involved in the issues that she will get herself into as she confronts her past and hunts down those who tried to kill her.

Kate will continue her reign as the new captain of the 12th precinct, while Rick will keep empowering his realm in the Private Investigation sector.

Co-show runner Terrence Paul Winter also noted that while Kate will be living outside of her home with Castle, she will be telling Vikram in the third episode that she is looking forward to getting the issues of her past over with in the soonest possible time since she wants to mend the bond torn by her past with Castle.

While the split is looking to shake up the power couple, Hawley added that the couple's time away from each other will only make them stronger once they get through the trials.

"Castle" airs every Monday at 10 p.m. on ABC.
