While there is no writer or director yet, the movie studio will begin developing a remake of the movie classic, according to Deadline.

"Guys and Dolls" is based on the book by Jo Swerling and Abe Burrows. With lyrics by Frank Loesser, it premiered on Broadway in 1950 where it ran for 1200 performances and earned a Tony Award.

The plot takes place in New York where a gambler is challenged to take a cold missionary to Havana. After they unexpectedly fall in love, the bet is used to finance a crap game.

The 1955 version of the film was nominated for four Oscars and won the Golden Globe for Best Musical/Comedy.

Meanwhile, Tatum is well known for his roles in films such as "Step Up" and "Magic Mike," and the actor has had a busy year. Shortly after being named People magazine's "Sexiest Man Alive," Tatum and his actress wife Jenna announced that they are expecting their first child.

The "21 Jumpstreet" star recently hinted that he would take a break from acting, and has not confirmed rumors surrounding "Guys and Dolls."

Alternately, Gordon-Levitt is well known for his role as a child in "Angels in the Outfield" as well as the more recent films "Inception" and "Lincoln." Like Tatum, Gordon-Levitt has not confirmed his possible role on "Guys and Dolls."

On Twitter, fans on both actors have voiced excitement over their possible inclusion to the cast of "Guys and Dolls."

"YES, Channing Tatum and Joseph Gordin-Levitt might be in a Guys and Dolls remake," Twitter user Molly wrote.

Tom posted, "Great to hear that a new version of 'Guys and Dolls' is in the works. Love that classic."

"I support this collaboration," wrote MTV.
