'Charmed' Reboot Updates: It's Not Happening, Says Shannen Doherty
After it was reported recently that original "Charmed "stars Shannen Doherty and Alyssa Milano have been in constant communication as they plan the supposed reboot of their now-defunct popular TV series, Doherty has recently said in an interview that it is not the case.
It was at the latter part of the previous month when Life & Style ran an article claiming that Doherty and Milano were supposedly in constant communication as they talked about the plans to revive "Charmed." Supposedly, according to a source of the said online publication, the two also kept their former co-star, Holly Marie Combs, in the loop as far as the update of their plans were concerned.
"They have been talking to (co-star) Holly (Marie Combs) about reprising their roles. They're getting a kick out of the idea of getting to play moms in their 40s with teenage witches as daughters," the incognito source supposedly said.

While the said piece of news was nothing short of exciting for the still die-hard fans of the series, it turned out that it was nothing more than a rumor as Doherty has said in a recent interview that a reboot of the series is not in sight for now.
"It's not happening. I mean, I just don't ever foresee it happening now. Why? It would be far too soon, but I also don't think you need the original cast for a reboot. I know our fans really want us back, but who knows? We were basically a reboot of 'Practical Magic' in its own way, so they could redo it, but now it should just rest," Doherty told The Hollywood Reporter at the red carpet during the Farrah Fawcett Foundation benefit recently.
Doherty starred as Prue Halliwell, the eldest sister of three magical witches in "Charmed," with Combs and Milano playing her younger sisters Piper and Phoebe, respectively, in the series. After three seasons, Doherty exited from the show supposedly because of her then-rumored conflict with Milano. She was eventually replaced by Rose McGowan, who portrayed the role of Paige Matthews, the half-sister of the Halliwells.
To recall, The CW revealed in January this year that it would reboot "Charmed." However, the announcement did not fall in the good graces of the fans as it would be a prequel of sort that was not connected to the beloved original cast members.
After making some noise online, fans of the original "Charmed" scored an initial victory when The CW announced a month later that it would delay the project for a fall 2018 TV season, with a story to run along a new script.
