While working in the hospital, Robin will get romantically involved with Dr. Connor Rhodes (Colin Donnell). Dr. Daniel Charles (Oliver Platt) will intervene in their romance because he does not approve of Dr. Rhodes. He will question Connor's ability to have a healthy relationship because the younger doctor has never seen one while growing up.

Dr. Charles' backstory

Executive Producer Diane Frolov said in an interview that the appearance of Dr. Charles' daughter goes with their plan to delve deeper into his backstory. He has hinted about his personal demons in the past. Robin's reunion with him will help unravel more interesting details of Dr. Charles' life.

Robin's entrance in "Chicago Med" Season 2 will mark the first time that a family member of Dr. Charles will be making an appearance in the series. Last season, some members of the family of the other series regulars were introduced, including Connor's estranged sister and father. April Sexton's (Yaya DaCostal) brother also made an appearance. Of course, Dr. Will Halstead (Nick Gehlfuss) is the brother of Detective Jay Halstead of another Chicago franchise, "Chicago P.D.".

New mentor

"Chicago Med" Season 2 will have another newcomer, who will play Dr. Rhodes' new mentor. His former mentor, Dr. David Downey, died in last season's finale. Dr. Latham will be the new mentor of Dr. Rhodes for the upcoming season. It is yet to be announced who will play the new character.

According to spoilers, the new mentor will be challenged in mentoring Dr. Rhodes because of his ward's frustrations over his career, which has led him to the point of questioning the choices he has made.

Other characters

Another storyline that will certainly level up the drama in "Chicago Med" Season 2 is the revelation of the health crisis of April. Tensions will rise when her boyfriend learns about her being diagnosed with tuberculosis.

Meanwhile, Dr. Ethan Choi (Brian Tee) gets promoted and becomes the new chief resident of the hospital. Sarah Reese (Rachel DiPillo) continues with her residency.
