Several changes will be seen right off in the "Chicago Med" Season 2 premiere. Dr. Rhodes will be starting his cardiothoracic surgery fellowship under a new mentor, Dr. Latham (Ato Essandro). But, according to the official synopsis, Rhodes will start off in the wrong foot when the new mento rwill prove to be challenging.

April's storyline will be given its fair share of the spotlight in "Chicago Med" Season 2. She will initially try to avoid Tate and his son because she is worried that they will contract tuberculosis from her.

However, her previously latent tuberculosis will be latent no more and therefore can be contagious. April will be in a dilemma on whether to tell Tate (Deron J. Powell) about her sickness in "Chicago Med" Season 2.

Updates on the doctors

Dr. Ethan Choi (Brian Tee) will be the new chief resident but will realize soon enough that his new position is a lot harder than he initially thought it would be. Elsewhere, Sarah Reese (Rachel Di Pillo) will be approached by Dr. Daniel Charles (Oliver Platt) with an interesting offer. She previously turned down an offer to work in Pathology but will return in "Chicago Med" Season 2 as a new resident courtesy of Dr. Charles.

Also in the "Chicago Med" Season 2 premiere, Dr. Manning (Torrey DeVitto) treats a pregnant woman who sustained extensive injuries after falling victim to a high speed collision. Sharon Goodwin (S. Epatha Merkerson) moves on and adjusts to life as a single woman after being left by her husband last season.

New characters in the new season

In addition to two new characters, Jeff Clarke (Jeff Hephner), a fourth-year medical student and the previously mentioned Dr. Latham, "Chicago Med" Season 2 will also see the introduction of Mekia Cox as the daughter of Dr. Charles, Robin.

Robin has had a complicated relationship with her father. As an epidemiologist, she will be called to help in a complicated case in the hospital in "Chicago Med" Season 2.

Dr. Rhodes' new love interest

Dr. Robin Charles will also be the new love interest of Dr. Rhodes which will not make her father happy in "Chicago Med" Season 2. The elder Dr. Rhodes isn't sure if Dr. Rhodes has it in him to be in a healthy relationship since he didn't see one in his childhood. To say that the budding romance will have a rough start is an understatement.

The premiere of "Chicago Med" Season 2 will air on September 22, Thursday, on NBC.
