'Chicago P.D.' Season 4 Air Date, Spoilers & Synopsis: Killing Son's Murderer Hangs Over Voight; Lindsay & Halstead Take Next Step in Relationship

Lindsay wants to protect Voight but does not want to be an accessory to murder.

Voight will realize the full extent of his actions as the fallout of avenging his son's death will slowly creep on him in "Chicago P.D." Season 4. Someone's head is needed to be served on a platter to the department and all eyes are on Voight to be the one to take the fall.

His son's murderer

In last season's finale of "Chicago P.D.", Hank Voight (Jason Beghe) killed his son Justin's murderer and then buried the body. Unfortunately, Erin Lindsay (Sophia Bush) knew of Voight's actions but was not a witness to it. He asked her to leave the room to avoid being a witness to the crime.

"Chicago P.D." Season 4 will start with the murder hanging over Voight and Lindsay. Commander Crowley (Barbara Eve Harris) confronts Lindsay about her and Voight being in the same location with Justin's killer on the night Department Intelligence was pursuing him. Crowley has her suspicions about Voight's involvement in the case but she has no proof.

Premiere episode synopsis

Besides the trailer, the synopsis for the "Chicago P.D." Season 4 premiere was also released. In the episode titled "The Silos", the police department will investigate a murder-arson case. The victim was wearing a Chicago P.D. issued wire. The new season will pick-up one week after the events of last season's finale.

New patrol partner

Meanwhile, Burgess (Marina Squerciati) will have a new patrol partner, Julie Tay (Li Jun Li), who is coming from one of the worst jobs in the city, writing parking tickets. They begin to bond as they respond to their first call. Tay ends up sharing personal details of her past, including why she was relieved from her previous assignment in the first episode of "Chicago P.D." Season 4.

Viewers will learn in the "Chicago P.D." Season 4 premiere that Tay's once promising career was derailed by her Commanding Officer. She rebuffed the C.O.'s sexual advances which led her to her previous assignment of writing parking tickets.

Lindsay and Halstead move in together

As "Chicago P.D." Season 4 progresses, Lindsay will find herself seeking the support and advice of her boyfriend Halstead (Jesse Lee Soffer) regarding her predicament with Voight. The couple will be closer than ever and will in fact later decide to live together.

Lindsay wants to do everything she could to protect her mentor. But, she also doesn't want to be the target of an investigation or charged as an accessory in a murder case.

All new "Chicago P.D." Season 4 episodes will air beginning September 21, Wednesday, on NBC.
