The New York-based children's entertainer Mr. Loops is out with a new song and music video that teaches kids it doesn't really matter which bathroom or locker room people use as long as they respect each other and "treat each other right."

Mr. Loops, who is also known as Jon Lewis and is based in the Rochester area, released a new 3-minute music video last week featuring him and his wife titled "Me is Me, You is You."

"When we got to go, everybody knows the restroom they attend," Mr. Loops sings. "No matter your gender, we got to remember it all comes out the same in the end."

"Everyone needs a place to go where they feel safe," Mr. Loops continues in the song. "We gotta respect each other."

After a chorus of "pee is pee, poo is poo," and "me is me, you is you," the song continues by talking about how "port-a-potties are a potty that everybody shares and so are potties in our houses and nobody cares."

"All we got to do is use our common sense and then we can solve a problem while still remaining friends," Mr. Loops sang before going into another chorus of "pee is pee, poo is poo."

In the YouTube posting, it's clarified that Mr. Loops' song is not meant to be an endorsement of an "unsafe environment for children."

"Mr. Loops is in no way condoning illegal activity," the post explains. "This song is not a representation of male and females occupying a restroom at the same time, nor is it intended to promote an unsafe environment for children."

According to LGBTQ Nation, Lewis found inspiration for the song when he saw one of his friends post a meme on Facebook that pointed out that port-a-potties have always been gender neutral and that never was a political issue.

"I immediately thought that it could be a Mr. Loops song," LGBTQ Nation quoted Lewis as saying. "I imagined kids and families singing it and laughing, all the while instilling a sense of acceptance and awareness to this 'issue.'"

Lewis said that his desire to create the song and music video, which took about three months to produce, was reinforced when he overheard a conversation between a waiter and guest at a restaurant. According to LGBTQ Nation, Lewis said that a customer asked what the establishment's gender-neutral bathroom policy was. The waiter answered, "Out back in the alley."

According to Media Research Center research analyst Sarah Stites, there is a problem with Mr. Loops' line of thinking that port-a-potties and home bathrooms present a similar situation as multi-person public restrooms.

"Port-a-potties and domestic bathrooms have always been solo. Always," Stites explained. "No one takes issue with individual gender neutral bathrooms."

Although Mr. Loops' song calls for people to respect each other, Stites states that Mr. Loops' concept of respect and privacy (especially when it comes to women and girls who don't want biological men in their restrooms and changing areas) seems a bit illogical.

"In a time where media coverage of sexual assault is so high, the logical disconnect is mind boggling," Stites argued.

Furthermore, Stites suggests Mr. Loops uses catchy beats and dancing animals to "brainwash children."

"We should certainly teach our children to be polite to others and respectful of those who are different, but this should not come at the cost of endangering our kids," Stites asserts.
