It has been claimed that Brown attempted to shake Ocean's hand, which fans suspect was an attempt to make peace. However, members of Ocean's entourage allegedly reacted by attacking the singer, which prompted a violent brawl. A total of six people were involved in the fight, during which both singers are believed to have had direct contact.

Police were called to the scene, but Brown was not present when they arrived. Ocean reportedly spoke with police and it is understood that authorities are also keen to get Brown's version of events.

"The altercation allegedly led to Chris Brown punching the victim," the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department said in a statement released Monday.

Ocean is being referred as the "victim" by default simply because he was the only party present upon police arrival.
