Chris Brown is identifying with slain teenager Michael Brown, who was fatally shot in an altercation with Ferguson police officer Darren Wilson in August.

After a grand jury ruled that they would not indict Wilson on any charges for the fatal shooting of the 18-year-old this week, the United States has been filled with protests in multiple cities and states. While many celebrities have spoken out on the issue, the 25-year-old singer indicated that he related to the events that have taken place.

In an interview with ABC's George Stephanopoulos, Wilson said Michael Brown became violent towards him.

Chris Brown was released from jail last summer and is serving probation for assaulting his ex-girlfriend Rihanna in 2009. Chris Brown has publicly admitted that he is not perfect and wrote a Michael Brown-inspired message where he identified with the slain teenager as a "troubled individual."

"I usually don't say too much **** on really sensitive subjects but this is beyond ****** up," Brown captioned an Instagram image of Mike Brown. "We as a black community and me as a young black troubled individual need justice to be done. We also as black people need to find other more effective ways of protesting."

Brown went on to call for God to be with the nation in troubled times.

"We are strong and powerful and have come along way and its ashame that it feels like the 1950s and 60s," he wrote. "Just because u are given a badge and a gun doesn't mean you are invincible and not accountable for your actions. May God be with us all. #justiceforMIKEBROWN (sic)."

Last summer, Brown took to his social media to speak about some of the mistakes he has made in life.

"I been through a lot in my life. Made a lot of mistakes along the way," Brown tweeted. "But through it all I've always been true to myself and through God I've been able to take care of my family! I should regret some things but I think the lessons learned will shape me into a real man."
