Chris Brown hit back at the founder of a popular gossip site after the website implied that the singer attacked a fan.

On Monday, TMZ.com ran a story about Brown "shoving" a fan after he performed at Limelight Houston nightclub in Texas on Saturday. Video footage shows the singer pushing the female fan after she tried to kiss him, and he lashed out at TMZ founder Harvey Levin for the way the story was written.

"What the devil looks like in person. Lol. You sad little man," Brown wrote on Instagram alongside a photo of Levin.

Although footage shows the overzealous fan behaving inappropriately towards Brown in front of his girlfriend, TMZ described his reaction as "questionable" which did not sit well with the "Loyal" singer.

"You've been trying for years to destroy me. It won't work. Your efforts are flattering," he continued. "When you look back on your life when it's that time for you to depart, what can u actually say you've accomplished in life? Bringing people down and being the number one source for negativity. Life's too short homie. Find some sort of happiness. You are a grown ass man. God bless you bruh."

The fan, who admitted to being intoxicated during the incident, is said to be considering taking legal action, although experts are skeptical about whether she actually has a case.

"I wasn't trying to hurt him, I was just a drunk fan," she reportedly told TMZ.

Brown, 25, has had a tough year due to ongoing legal woes, however, he now appears to be focused on turning his life around for the better.

On June 2, he was was released from a Los Angeles County jail after having served 108 days of a 131-day sentence for probation violation.

He has faced intense media scrutiny since his 2009 domestic assault incident involving pop star Rihanna and he previously expressed his frustration. In recent weeks he released his "X" album, which debuted at number 2 on the Billboard 200 chart.

"Don't worry mainstream America. After this X album, it'll probably be my last album," Brown tweeted August 6. "Being famous is amazing when it's for ur music and talent. I'm tired of being famous for a mistake I made when i was 18. I'm cool & over it!"
