Guitarist Oz Fox of the heavy metal Christian band Stryper married Hookers for Jesus founder Annie Lobert on Friday during a ceremony broadcast live via the internet.

The event, which came across as odd-sounding to those unfamiliar with the two atypical Christians, was held at The Church At South Las Vegas roughly four months after Fox “popped the question” and just 16 months after the two first met.

Though the trip to the altar was short by most standards, for 41-year-old Lobert, it was “about time.”

“It has truly been a journey ... and a great one at that,” Lobert had written to her supporters two days before the ceremony.

After having spent over 11 years of working as a call girl and exotic dancer and living a “nightmare lifestyle,” Lobert turned her life over to Christ and today ministers to individuals and families affected by sexual abuse and trauma linked to professional and consumer involvement in the sex industry.

In his pre-relationship endorsement of Lobert, Fox described Lobert’s story as one of a “true miracle change.”

“God has truly called Annie to the task [of reaching out to prostitutes],” he added.

Like Lobert, Fox is also considered a pioneer in a field that is off the radar of most Christians.

Fox’s band, Stryper, was formed in 1983 and is recognized as a driving force in the mainstream popularization of Christian metal music. Stryper is also noted as the first openly Christian heavy metal band to gain recognition in the mainstream music world.

Next month, Fox’s band Stryper will be releasing their eighth album, entitled Murder By Pride, which will come out under the label Big 3 Records.

In the two weeks leading to Friday’s wedding, Fox’s only comments on his Facebook page has been his countdown of days “to Annie Fox.”

Fox, 47, has three adult children – Paul, Lea, and Tara – from his first marriage, which ended at least twice in separation.

His youngest, Tara, had a brief music career, which she announced as having ended late last year. The elder two have mostly kept out of the media’s spotlight.
