Christie Brinkley Social Life Swim Suit Shoot at 59 (PHOTO)

After a more than 30 year hiatus from modeling swim suits, Christie Brinkley has returned to the social scene with a debut in Social Life magazine.

Brinkley was the cover model for Sports Illustrated's Swim Suit Edition for three consecutive years in the 1970's. The publicity helped launch her into a life long modeling career. But for the past few year, Brinkley's focus has been less on being in pictures and more on taking them.

Aside from her many other hobbies, which include writing, designing, and being an activist, Brinkley recently admitted to a passion for taking pictures.

"I find when I walk with a camera in my hand, I am extra alert and attuned to all the extraordinary beauty that abounds, from the smallest detail of a powdery pistil in a flower to the texture of the sky," the now 59-year-old model said during an interview with Social Life magazine.

For Brinkley, photography is more than just a hobby. She enjoys looking at the photos afterwards as much as she enjoys taking them in the first place.

"Taking pictures intensifies my appreciation and awe," she told the magazine. Of the many photos the Brinkley enjoys taking, half the fun is in sharing those photos with friends.

"I am newly addicted to Instagram," she added.

But after appearing on the cover of over 500 magazines throughout her career, it's been years since Brinkley has modeled in a swimsuit. She broke that 30-year hiatus in May, modeling in a black swimsuit for Social Life.

Brinkley has been married four times; most notably to Billy Joel with whom she has one daughter. She has a second child with her third husband, Richard Tubman, and a third child with her fourth husband, Peter Cook. Last year she was ranked as one of the world's richest models.
