After 13 years of silence, Christina Aguilera says she is ready to confront her estranged father, Fausto Aguilera.

"I've talked about how rough things were for me and I'm sure he's heard it," the Grammy award-winning singer said in an interview for the March issue of "Latina." "He can't be thrilled about it. So maybe one day we can do lunch. I'm 31 years old now. Maybe it's time."

Today's most popular couples have opened up about their Valentine's Day plans this year.
Aguilera has spoken out publicly about her father being both physically and mentally abusive to her throughout her childhood many times.

"There was so much domestic violence going on when I grew up with my dad traveling in the military," she said in an interview with Rolling Stone. "I think the reason that my drive was so strong and I was so passionate about music was because I grew up in an environment of domestic violence."

Aguilera, 31, lived with both of her parents until their bitter split in 1987, when she was just 7-years-old.

In June 2011, she told Us Weekly magazine that her life had improved once her mother Shelly Kearns, a Spanish teacher of German, Irish, and Dutch descent, left her father, an Ecuadorian born military man who spent much of his daughter's childhood on active duty.

"I grew up in a household where domestic violence occurred and the greatest gift for me, as a child, was the day my parents got divorced," Aguilera, who officially divorced her husband Jordan Bratman, last year, said. The pair maintains dual custody of their son.
"The key to having a happy child is having a happy parent. Kids are like sponges: they take on everything."

But Fausto has denied ever abusing Christina or any of his children. "I never abused them in any way and they know that," he said in 2002. "I'm sorry to have ever raised a hand to my wife, but it was never brutal like Ike and Tina Turner."
