Christina Grimmie Murder News & Update: Police Still Clueless About Gunman's Motive in Killing 'The Voice' Contestant; Who is Kevin James Loibl?

No Evidence Points That Attacker Was Stalking Singer For a Long Time

Two days after the murder of The Voice talent Christina Grimmie, authorities are still facing a blank wall as to the motive in killing the 22-year-old singer last Friday.

A Disturbed Fan

Since gunman Kevin James Loibl pulled the trigger on himself after shooting Grimmie while she was signing autographs during a meet-and-greet at The Plaza Live in Orlando, authorities still cannot figure out nor question anyone on why the 26-year-old gunman attacked the YouTube sensation. The police suspected that Loibl was a disturbed fan who planned to kill Grimmie.

The killer said to have traveled all the way from St. Petersburg, Florida to Orlando on the day he ended the life of one of the most promising young singers in the industry. There were no prior connections between Grimmie and Loibl that the police saw, which could have sparked the attack.

"There is no indication that he knew her. We're looking into that to try to find a motive for the crime," said Orlando Police head John Mina.

The singer died hours after she was rushed at the hospital. Her attacker fatally shot himself after Grimmie's brother prevented him from hurting other people in the venue.

In addition, the police have checked the cellphone and social media presence of Loibl but found no evidence that he was stalking Grimmie. Authorities also claimed that he had no records of arrests before the killing.

All the police knew was that he booked a flight to Orlando and had the intent to return home because he had with him return tickets to Florida.

Grimmie About to Hug Gunman

Fans who witnessed the senseless shooting also started sharing what they saw to the media before and after Grimmie was shot. Destiny Rivera shared that she was among those lined up waiting for her turn to get an autograph from her idol.

Rivera's memory of the incident revealed that Grimmie was even offering her attacker a hug when he shot her close range.

"The one guy in front of us was walking up to meet her. Her arms were open, waiting to greet him with a hug," the fan added noting that she just saw the artist fall to the ground.

Describing the behavior of the killer, Rivera said she hesitated to approach Loibl because he seemed nervous while waiting for his turn to meet Grimmie. The fan added that she planned to approach him to talk but he did not seem like he wanted to have a conversation with anybody.
