Both teams come into this showdown with a record of 4-2. The Bengals are top of the AFC North, just a game ahead of Baltimore and Cleveland, who are both 3-3.
Meanwhile, the Lions are joint top of the NFC North, tied for the lead with the Chicago Bears, who are also 4-2. The hugely competitive division also sees the 3-2 Green Bay Packers just behind, also looking to pounce if the Lions or Bears falter.
Both teams today know their 4-2 records leave little room for mistakes, and they will both be desperate to gain the win today to consolidate their places at the top of their divisions.
The Lions bounced back well from their 9-22 defeat against the Packers in Week 5, gaining a win in Cleveland last week 31-17. Detroit have one of the best offenses in the league so far this season, ranking 7th in total points scored per game (27 points), and 9th in total yards gained per game (378.5 yards).
Their offensive success has been largely due to their good work on the pass, in which they rank 6th in the league, posting 284.3 yards per game.
Quarterback Matthew Stafford is 150 of 239 for 1,772 yards and 12 touchdowns, and he will be a central figure that must do well today of the Lions are to win.
Meanwhile, the Bengals have gained good wins against the New England Patriots and the Buffalo Bills in recent weeks, and they will be unfazed by coming up against a solid Lions team today.
The Bengals have had a powerful defensive unit through the season, and that has allowed them to come away with wins even when their offense hasn't been firing on all cylinders. They defeated the New England Patriots by only posting 13 points, thanks to their defense which kept the Patriots down to just 6 points.
The face off between the Bengals defense and the Lions attack will be an interesting one today, and whoever comes out on top is likely to take this one.
