Being one of the oldest civilizations of human settlement, "Civilization 6" would not be complete if it didn't include the Sumeria civ. Dating as far back as 5500 BC, this civilization that settled in Mesopotamia originated some of the world's most indispensable technologies, such as metal and handwriting.

The "Civilization 6" civ leader, Gilgamesh, is kind of different than the others in the game. He is more of a fictional than a real character, being attributed as a two-thirds god and only one-third human. Gilgamesh appears in literature spanning different civilizations, and historians have been more inclined to believe that he is actually a real person.

All Roads Lead to Rome, the Legion, the Baths, and Trajan's Column

Per the "Civilization 6" traditional features, both the civ and its leader gain special abilities. Sumeria's unique ability is called the "Epic Quest". This gives the player a Tribal Village reward every time a barbarian outpost is captured. This ability will be advantageous at the early onset of the civ.

As Sumeria does not really have an organized military unit back in its days, "Civilization 6" will give the civ the War Cart. This ancient unit will suffer no penalties against Spearmen or the anti-Cavalry units. It also gains an extra movement if it embarks on an open terrain. This still gives Sumeria a competitive advantage when it comes to its military units.

One of the most distinguished landmark of the Sumerian civilization is the Ziggurat. This was known to be the center of religion, culture, and government back then. This is why "Civilization 6" will bring the Ziggurat as the unique building of Sumeria. It will provide science and culture when built adjacent to a river. However, the structure cannot be built on a hill.

Lastly, with the tremendous combat reputation of Gilgamesh, he is given the unique Leader ability called Adventures with Enkidu. This means that when he is fighting a joint war in "Civilization 6", the closest allied unit within five tiles will share the pillage rewards and combat experience gained by Sumeria.

Release

As expected, "Civilization 6" will be launched a few weeks away - on October 21. It will be playable through Windows, OS X, and Linux computing platforms.
