'Civilization 6': Persia and Macedonia Coming with Spring 2017 Update

Firaxis' role-playing strategy game "Civilization VI" adds two new civilizations as part of its spring update, alongside the usual bug fixes and game improvements.

The two new civilizations that are coming into the game were quite well-known empires during the ancient times - Persia and Macedonia.

Persia is set during the reign of Cyrus II and is known for its rich culture in military warfare and numerous victories. In the game, their unique unit is called the Immortal and it will have a strong melee defense plus a ranged attack.

As a leader, Cyrus brings bonus movements for all units and gets reduced diplomatic penalties whenever he wages surprise wars.

Aside from warfare, Persia also has the unique Pairidaeza, a tile improvement that helps increase culture, appeal, and gold for the city.

The second confirmed civilization is Macedonia and is led by none other than Alexander the Great, another warfare and conqueror-centric civilization. Its unique unit will be known as Hypaspist (replaces Swordsman) and they are the soldier elite of Macedon. The civilization also has an additional unit called the Hetairoi, a Heavy Cavalry unit.

This civilization provides a bonus after conquering a city, while Alexander also provides one that helps reduce war weariness, thus enabling them to engage in longer warfare.

In the cultural side of things, Macedonia has the Basilikoi Paides where political hostages and young boys are taught to "serve, honor, and protect the king." The name of the building translates to "royal page school."

No exact release date is known yet for the Double Civilization and Scenario Pack, which is expected to carry the new Persia and Macedonia civilizations. However, it has been confirmed that Deluxe Edition owners of the game will automatically get the upcoming content. The pack is also expected to be released alongside the spring update, which will be rolled out to fix bugs and introduce multiplayer changes for every "Civilization VI" player.

However, when the spring update will be made available is also unknown as of the moment.

"Civilization 6" is available for Windows, Mac OS and Linux.
