Country music power couple Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton have dominated this year's Country Music Awards on Thursday.

The married singers accepted the Song of the Year award together for their duet "Over You" at the 46th Annual Country Music Association Awards in Nashville, Tenn.

Taking the stage together, the couple opened up about their award-winning song.

"I lost my brother in a wreck when I was 14-years-old, and later in life when I decided I wanted to be a country singer, my dad always told me, 'Son, you should write a song about your brother,'" said Shelton, 36, while speaking to the audience Thursday.

"I lost my dad in January, and it's so amazing to me that tonight even after he's gone, he's still right," he continued with Lambert by his side.

An emotional Lambert added, "Thank you, Blake, for allowing me to sing this beautiful song and write it with you. Thank you CMA and all of our peers for voting for us. It's really emotional. We love ya'll."

In addition to their big win, Shelton won Male Vocalist of the Year for the third consecutive year and Entertainer of the Year for the first time, while Lambert took home the award for Female Vocalist of the Year.

Although she surprisingly left the event empty-handed, Taylor Swift dazzled on the red carpet at the CMAs. She paired a sparkling Jenny Packham red and nude gold with her signature red lipstick on Thursday.

The show was hosted by Carrie Underwood and Brad Paisley. Performances included Jason Aldean, Luke Bryan, Eric Church, Tim McGraw, Faith Hill, Keith Urban, Hunter Hayes, and Kelly Clarkson.

Hayes took home the award for New Artist of the Year, while country music legend Willie Nelson was honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award. Little Big Town earned the award for best vocal group, and vocal duo went to Thompson Square.
