'Code Vein' News: Get to Know the Different Weapon Types That Will Be Made Available

Five general weapon types have been revealed

The world contained within "Code Vein" is a dangerous one, even when one takes it on with the help of some companions. If players are going to make it through the unforgiving environments of the game, they will need to use some powerful weapons.

New details about the game's weapons were featured in a recent issue of Weekly Famitsu, and there were five specific types prospective players should hear about.

The first weapon type is a role-playing game staple, the longsword. Typically, longswords are among the better-balanced weapons in games, and it appears that the same holds true for the upcoming action title.

Next up is a variant of the sword that is significantly larger than longswords. In the game, greatswords make it easier for players to reach enemies with each swipe and deal heavy damage in the process. Players cannot be careless when using a greatsword, however, as they may leave themselves vulnerable to attacks if they just swing wildly.

In many ways, axes function quite similarly to greatswords in "Code Vein." Those reach and damage advantages are also offered to players by axes, and similarly, gamers will have to be mindful of when to attack or else they may open themselves up to their enemies.

Hammers do not offer as much reach as axes or greatswords, but they do excel at dishing out punishment. Players will have to get in real close for hammers to be effective, but if they manage to do that consistently, then enemies will not stand a chance.

Last up are the bayonet rifles, and as DualShockers reported, they are unique because they can function both as melee and ranged weapons. These are arguably the most complex weapons in the game, and it may take players some time to get used to them.

Individual weapons can be unique as well, so even those in the same category may prove beneficial in different ways.

Players will be able to try out the weapon types above as soon as "Code Vein" is released sometime next year.
