Colombia vs. Paraguay 2016: Injury Keeps James Rodriguez Out; Add Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez And It Makes Three Soccer Stars Benched at Copa America

James Rodriguez to Miss Colombia vs. Paraguay

James Rodriguez will miss the Colombia vs. Paraguay game on Tuesday, June 7, starting at 10:30 p.m. ET (7:30 p.m. PT) due to a shoulder injury he sustained during the Copa America 2016 opener against the United States last Friday at Santa Clara.

Despite earning a win against the host team, things were bittersweet for Rodriguez who scored a penalty-kick goal to seal the Colombian victory, but soon after injured his shoulder after an awkward landing. As a result, Rodriguez left the game early at the 73rd minute. The Colombian Footbal Federation stated that James suffered a dislocated shoulder.

While there are no official reports whether James Rodriguez will be playing in the following game against Costa Rica in Houston, Colombian news outlets have reported on James' "frustration and impotence" following this injury and speculate that he may be back in shape by Saturday.
