Company Promotes 'Light' Christmas Gifts

Sales figures during Thanksgiving weekend show that a "strong spiritual revival" is taking place across America, as religious Christian gifts are becoming increasingly popular, according to a manufacturer of Christmas products.

"The market for Christian gifts and religious collectibles has definitely reached a turning point. There's a real spiritual hunger out there, and people are feeling an overwhelming need to share positive messages of faith and inspiration with loved ones,” said Penny Powell, product developer for Internet shopping site Collectibles Today, according to a press release.

The developer says that demand for gifts such as nativity scenes, religious-themed jewelry and Christmas ornaments has been "huge."

She says that many Christmas season shoppers are leaning towards "lighter inspirational tone" gifts that focus less on "heavy" religious emphasis.

Powell adds that people want inspirational messages of God's love. She points shoppers to gifts such as jewelry, which can "offer encouragement to people who are hurting."

Powell’s company is the online retail arm of The Bradford Exchange and affiliated companies that sell collectibles.
