Conor McGregor vs. Jose Aldo 2 Rematch Fight News 2016: UFC Fighters Chime In On Whether Rematch Should Happen

A number of UFC fighters have chimed in about whether or not former long-time featherweight champion José Aldo should get an immediate rematch against current 145-pound king Conor McGregor.

McGregor, who defeated Aldo within 13 seconds with a straight left hand at UFC 193 last December 12th, has expressed his intent to move up to 155-pounds and fight for the title that is currently in the possession of Rafael Dos Anjos.

This has left former lightweight champion Frankie Edgar in disarray, as UFC president Dana White promised him to be getting the next title shot at featherweight.

A few fighters had previously shared their thoughts on the matter. For former light heavyweight champion Jon Jones, "it only seems right" for Aldo to get the immediate rematch. Welterweight contender Matt Brown agrees, noting of the Brazilian's accomplishments and stint as a ten-year champion.

In a recent report by Bloody Elbow, a few more fighters expressed their sentiments. This time around, they were dissenting opinions; both from veteran mixed martial arts figures Kenny Florian and Michael Bisping.

For Florian, who had the chance to face Aldo at UFC 136 in 2011, it would be difficult to justify having the rematch, especially with such an outcome. He went on to add that Aldo's inconsistencies and frequent injuries does not make him worthy of another crack at the title.

"And the other thing is, Conor, that may have been his last fight at 145 lbs. He's huge for the weight class, and as you see, anything he lands, he's destroying people with," Florian added.

Bisping, on the other hand, says that while he initially believes that Aldo does deserve a rematch, he was convinced to now think otherwise after hearing Florian's reason.

"This is why Kenny, you get paid the big bucks and you commentate for Fox and the UFC," Bisping said.
