In Canada: Thousands have signed a petition calling for the resignation of the "status of women minister" Rona Ambrose after she pledged support for motion 312 that was introduced in parliament by backbencher Stephen Woodworth to open discussion on when life begins. Opponents of the motion accuse it of being a sly way to reintroduce the abortion debate. Ambrose is the Conservative MP for Edmonton-Spruce Grovel. She voted against party wishes to vote in favor of re-evaluating Canadian policy about the 400 year old definition of when life begins. It has sparked not only a backlash, but a debate over whether women can both champion women's rights and yet have pro-life views. Immigration minisister Jason Kenney—a staunch Catholic also voted in favor of Motion 312 while prime Minister Stephen harper voted against in keeping with an election promise. South of the border…..Anti-abortion and pro-abortion perspectives have clashed in the current U.S. presidential election, and protests against cuts to Planned Parenthood.
