CP World Report: Coptic Pope, Germany's New President, George Clooney, Birth Control Coverage

The patriarch of the Coptic Orthodox Church Pope Shenouda III of Alexandria has died at 88. He led Egypt's Christian minority for 4 decades during a time of increasing persecution in Egypt. He was battling prostrate cancer, liver and lung problems for years. "Baba Shenouda," as he was known to his followers, headed one of the most ancient churches in the world, which has traced its founding to St. Mark, who is said to have brought Christianity to Egypt in the 1st Century. Among those who sent immediate condolences was Prime Minister Stephen Harper and Pope Benedict.

Lutheran pastor Joachim Gauck will become Germany's new president after receiving overwhelming approval from German Members of Parliament . The 72 year old will succeed Christian Wulff who was forced to resign in February over a financial scandal, putting Chancellor Angela Merkel into the hot-seat over her strong backing of him instead of Gauck. Merkel has now offered her support for the Lutheran pastor.

Actor George Clooney was arrested during a protest in front of the Sudanese Embassy in Washington. He was there to bring awareness to war crimes against the Christian dominated South Sudan. The actor was cuffed along with other activists, including his father, Nick Clooney and Virginia Congressman Jim Moran. Clooney met one on one with President Obama in the Oval Office to talk about his ongoing concerns over the humanitarian crisis in Sudan. Protesters accuse Sudan's president of blocking food and aid from entering the country.

The Arizona state legislature has opened a can of worms over the ongoing issue in the U.S. over insurance coverage for birth control pills. The State is considering a bill that would allow any employer to deny health insurance coverage for the pill; If the employer has a religious or moral objection to them. The bill has passed the statehouse and is now making its way through the state senate. Under existing law, Religious institutions are already exempted from having to cover contraceptives.

He's now in critical condition in Hospital. The tragedy happened 41 minutes into an F.A. Cup Quarter Final match, in front of 30 thousand fans in the stadium and ESPN viewers.
