The Republican platform committee has rejected an amendment that would have endorsed civil unions for gay couples. The GOP has maintained its official support for a constitutional amendment that would "protect traditional marriage" by defining it as between a man and a woman. The Democratic National Committee platform has embraced gay marriage, urged on by President Barack Obama's decision to endorse it earlier in the year.

The mystery of the gruesome story of body parts being found in Mississauga and Toronto …appears to be solved. The Chick-Fil-A controversy over traditional marriage has caught the attention of an advertising and marketing strategist. Chris Stone is founding partner of a branding organization called "The Stone Agency". He also runs: "FaithDrivenConsumer.org." According to Stone, faith driven consumers are large enough to matter, with a full 70 percent of Americans identifying themselves as Christians. Stone suspects that Chick-Fil-A's ultra-successful "Appreciation Day" was a sensation because of Faith Driven Consumers. Stone's website encourages Christian Consumers to think….. "Faith First". Reverend David Robertson, a Free Church Minister in Dundee added that he suspected Dawkins isn't a good debater either. The debate would have been at a festival which examines faith and religion through different lenses. The festival also includes a speech by Richard Dawkins on his book: The God Delusion which advises society to outgrow beliefs in a God that does not exist. His invitation to the festival sparked widespread concern in the local Christian community. Some Church leaders even called for a boycott of the festival when Dawkins was invited.
