Republican Vice Presidential Candidate Paul Ryan brought a scathing attack on President Obama's foreign policy…. in a speech at a Summit in Washington. He pointed to the turmoil in the Middle East, including the civil war in Syria, and anti-U-S protests in Libya, Egypt and Yemen.

Meanwhile….Pope Benedict the Sixteenth visited Beirut at a time of unrest in the Middle East, and concerns about the future of minority Christians in the region. Beirut's Christian districts hung pictures of the 85-year-old pontiff. The local newspaper reported some 5-thousand military and security personnel were protecting Pope Benedict. While in Lebanon, the Pope held two open-air events, met with religious leaders, and the country's Christian president. The Pope also urged Lebanon to be a model of Christian coexistence with Islam.

Holy Trinity Pentecostal Church in Moscow's eastern suburb of Novokosino has been looted and then demolished on the order of city authorities determined to build a sports stadium on the site. The demolition—ordered by court—sent shock waves through the country's Protestant community and raised fears that religious freedom is under attack from a government that has long shown preferential treatment to the dominant Russian Orthodox Church. About 550 people attended the parish. Out of that number, about 200 are children and 100 are teenagers and young people.

Food for thought for Christians: According to Dr. Thom Rainer, president and CEO of LifeWay Christian Resources of the Southern Baptist Convention, there are seven common things that non-Christians say about Christians. Here's what they are: Christians are more against things than for; they'd like to develop friendship with a Christian; would like to learn more about the bible from one; and would like to learn to be a better spouse and parent from a Christian. On the downsides: they don't see much difference in how Christians live; Christians act like they have no problems and ……they'd like a Christian to invite them to Church.

HEALTH NEWS…
Hearing loss doesn't just affect older people. It happens to people of all ages. This is the story of a young girl on a mission to educate others about her hearing loss and hearing aid.

IN SPORTS……
Well the National Hockey league in Canada has locked out its players. The deadline passed midnight Saturday with no negotiations planned. That would likely mean the cancellation of pre-season games and beyond that ...is anyone's guess. Take a listen at this full report filed just before the lockout deadline…..
