'Crazy Ex-Girlfriend' Renewal News: Will The Two Major Awards Net The Show A New Season?

Fans of the critically acclaimed musical comedy TV series "Crazy Ex-Girlfriend" are still holding their breath for The CW to announce a possible Season 2, but the genius behind the show is quite optimistic that a renewal will be greenlit.

Actress Rachel Bloom recently told Entertainment Weekly how she considers winning a major award for the series she created and starred would help make a Season 2 possible.

"I'm hoping that the Golden Globe will help push us in that direction, I think it helps," the 28-year-old told the media outlet.

"Writing and creating this show scratches every single creative itch I have," Bloom says and adds that it is "the most satisfying thing" she has done.

The comedian, who stars in the series as Rebecca Bunch, a woman who just can't get over Vincent Rodriguez's Josh Chan, recently bagged a Golden Globe Award for being the "Best Actress – Television Series Musical or Comedy." Her latest accolade is the Critics' Choice Award for being the "Best Actress in A Comedy Series" given to her a few days ago.

But the struggle they went through to make the show a reality was rather grueling. She revealed during her Golden Globe acceptance speech how they got rejected six times in one day. However, they never lost their faith in the show.

The show is yet to return for its mid-season run this week, Jan. 25, with an episode called "I'm Going To The Beach With Josh and His Friends!"

The synopsis from The Futon Critic reads:

"In an attempt to impress join Josh's friend group, Rebecca rents a party bus to take the group to the beach. On the trip, Rebecca learns more about her new friends than she expected and makes a surprising revelation herself."

"Crazy Ex-Girlfriend" airs Mondays at 8 p.m. on The CW.
