'Criminal Minds' Season 10 Cast to Include Jennifer Love Hewitt

"Criminal Mind" wrapped up season 9 and said goodbye to Jeanne Tripplehorn's character, Alex Blake. Tripplehorn walked away from the series after only two seasons with just a slight nod and no grand farewell, fitting with her character. However, news has just been confirmed that veteran actress Jennifer Love Hewitt will be joining the BAU this fall.

"We're thrilled to introduce a new special agent by adding the very talented Jennifer Life Hewitt to our amazing cast," writer Erica Messer told CBS. "Many of us on the show have enjoyed working with her over the years and look forward to again. We have exciting storylines planned for her character and the entire BAU team as we head into our 10th season."

Hewitt will play undercover agent Kate Callahan, whose reputation precedes her and earns her the opportunity to work with the Behavioral Analysis Unit. She will make her debut during the season premiere on Oct. 1 and be a season regular instead of just a guest star.

Hewitt is a seasoned actress who got her start on "Party of Five" and then continued on to do such shows as "Ghost Whisperer" and more recently "The Client List." She has also worked in several filmes, including "Heartbreakers" and "The Tuxedo."

Fans are already excited to see the news of Hewitt's arrival to the BAU.

"Yea!!! I just love her!! Will be great seeing her back on TV and on one of our favorite shows!" Liz B. posted on CBS.com.

However, fans are still mourning the losses left by Paget Brewster and now Tripplehorn, who had stepped in to fill the space left by Brewster.

Cast member Joe Mantegna tweeted a welcome message to Hewitt, signifying his support of her role on the show.

"Criminal Minds" is one of CBS's top-ranked shows and allows fans to explore the darker side of crime; its unique storylines keep fans coming back for more and will do so again when it returns on Oct. 1.
