The pilot episode began with a case in Seattle, Washington where a man was found dead inside a drug lab. The police thought it was a drug overdose, but Rossi appeared and he said that the man was murdered. The victim had his face painted white and black as if he was wearing a mask. Morgan was also there with Rossi and explained that the man was the latest victim in a series of killings.

The team was down to two agents since Kate left and JJ went on maternity leave. Hotch was interviewing applicants for the open spot on the team, while Garcia was helping the team create a profile of the killer. They discovered another body in and the medical examiner discovered something in both victims.

The unknown subject was using a feeding tube because he could not use his jaw to eat. The team discovered that their killer was a professional hit man who was killing his former clients. The team discovered a man who created an escrow fund.

Rossi, Reid, and Morgan found the next victim in a car repair shop and he had a grenade glued to his hands. They saved the man's life and they discovered that the killer was tipped off by a mole in the local law enforcement agency.

The team discovered that the mole was Captain Wilson and he helped because his wife had hired the hitman. One of the applicants for the opening, a Doctor Tara Lewis, had helped the team since she talked to Captain Wilson. The killer was apprehended along with Captain Wilson. Morgan visited the unknown subject in the hospital and he said that there were more people like him out there. The episode ended with Hotch as he made a decision and talked to Doctor Lewis.

"Criminal Minds" airs every Wednesday.
