Thomas Gibson, who plays Hotch on the show, and Erica Messer, the "Criminal Minds" showrunner, recently spoke with TV Guide and revealed some spoilers.

Hotch's plotline will be the focus of coming episodes, and issues that have been left hanging will be addressed, mainly the stabbing that Hotch failed to prevent.

"Here we are 100 episodes [since the stabbing] and how is Hotch dealing with it?" Messer said.

It seems the relationship between Hotch and The Reaper is evolving. There is even a hug between the two in the upcoming episode, though the hug was rather one-sided, according to Gibson.

"I don't think I hugged him back. It's like 90 percent him and 10 percent me. You're going see him with a box of popcorn too. It's a completely different Reaper. Be ready," he said.

Gibson also provided some spoilers as to how Hotch will handle the recovery from surgery.

"He doesn't say it, but he says it with his actions, which is, 'I don't want to talk about it. I'm OK. Thanks for your thoughts. Let's get back to work,'" Gibson said. "He's somebody who's very dedicated to the job. He's a tough guy. It's not easy for him to change. That's why his marriage ended."

"Criminal Minds" airs tonight at 9/8c on CBS.
