Cristiano Ronaldo Injury Report and Update for 2016-17 Season: Will Star and Euro Champion Return?

Having sustained a serious knee injury during the Euro 2016 finals, football superstar Cristiano Ronaldo is likely to miss Real Madrid's UEFA SuperCup against Sevilla on August 9 and the first few matches of the team for the 2016-17 Liga BBVA Season.

According to ManagingMadrid.com, Ronaldo is suffering from a partly torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL), which could take up to five months to recover. This is based on the findings of the Portuguese doctors that attended to him in France. The athlete is still in need to confirm this and accept treatments and test for the injury to ensure the length of time-off required. Euro Sport stated that the current manager of the team Zinedine Zidane will not risk the welfare of his injured player and that Ronaldo is far off from getting the continental showpiece.

Cristiano's injury was caused by a heavy collision with French midfielder Dimitri Payet during the first 8 minutes of the final game. He managed the pain for 25 minutes before exiting the match in tears. The crowd gave him a standing ovation, admiring the player for his fighting spirit and committment to his team and nation.

Eventually his team won the finals 1-0 and became Euro Champions without their captain on the field. However, reports say that Ronaldo acted as an assistant manager and delivered a much-needed pep talk to the team after leaving the game. Cedric Soares, Real Madrid's fullbacker stated that the injury was a shock to the whole team and everyone was affected by the incident. He added, "He was fantastic. His attitude was unbelievable. Always he helped a lot our teammates, he always had a lot of motivational words and all the team of course reacted to them, so it was very good."

Reporter Rob Harris tweeted a statement from Rolando himself, saying that he has a "small injury". Ronaldo added in terms of the championship, "It's something unbelievable in my career, something I deserve."

The athlete's mother took out her dismay on twitter, saying that the tackle was unnecessary. The tweet translated, "I cannot see my son in this way. The game is to kick the ball and not hurt the opponent."

Cristiano Ronaldo is supposed to travel to the US with his team on 31st of July starting in New York.
