A pro-life event is being held at the Crystal Cathedral church Thursday night and will feature several prominent pro-life advocates, including the CEO and founder of a California-based network of parental health consultation clinics.

The event, free to the public, is to be led by Kathleen Eaton, president of Birth Choice Health Clinics, a network of counseling pro-life institutions spread throughout California. The organization describes itself on its website  as a "licensed community care clinics providing medical consultations, pregnancy tests, STD testing, HIV/AIDS testing, well women care, and prenatal care."

"For millions of young women and men across our nation, 'choice' has come to mean 'abortion,'" Eaton said in a statement released Tuesday. "But in California, Birth Choice Health Clinics and its supporters are putting 'life' back in 'choice' and spreading the news!"

Birth Choice Health Clinics is a church-backed network. Most of its events take place at churches. The organization will celebrate its 31st anniversary at the famous Orange County church, which recently split after years of financial struggles and leadership disputes.

Other keynote speakers visiting the signature glass church in Garden Grove, Calif., Thursday night include Lila Rose, president of Live Action, a youth-led pro-life movement; Jack Hibbs, founder and senior pastor of Calvary Chapel Chino Hills in Chino, Calif.; and Kristan Hawkins, director of Students for Life of America, who is "responsible for tripling the number of pro-life campus groups in the United States over the past six years," according to the event description.

Additional special guests include: Jason Jones, promoter of the movie "October Baby;" pastor Matt Doan of Calvary Santa Ana; pastor Al Baca of St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Tustin, Calif.; and Pastor Seth Gatchell of Pacific Church of Irvine, among others. The event kicks off at 5 p.m. PST.

The church property currently belongs to the Roman Catholic Diocese of Orange. It was sold to the Catholic Church in February following a bankruptcy filing by Crystal Cathedral Ministries. According to the lease agreement with the Diocese of Orange, Crystal Cathedral Ministries can continue using the Garden Grove campus for three years before having to find a new home.

As the Crystal Cathedral tries to carry on its ministry following the departure of its founding family, the Schullers, in March and multiplying financial difficulties, obstacles keep springing up. In a recent statement, John Charles, president & CEO, revealed that the church needs to "move forward quickly or, sadly, the lights will be turned off."

"As I write, we have funds enough for six weeks, so your donation to your Crystal Cathedral, today, is urgent," Charles wrote in the statement, just a month after he told The Christian Post that church donations have doubled since the Schullers' departure. CP did not manage to get a comment for this story by press time.
