Cyberpunk 2077 News, Details: CD Projekt Red's New Title Touted To Be Bigger Than 'Witcher 3'

Yet another sandbox game is about to hit the shelves from the game company that brought "The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt."

Reports are rife this week saying that CD Projekt Red's upcoming masterpiece will be called "Cyberpunk 2077." Citing Gamespot.com, it is said that the sci-fi role-playing game will be much larger than the studio's current fantasy title.

In an interview with MCV UK (via Gamespot), visual effects artist Jose Teixeira said that "Cyberpunk is far bigger than anything else that CD Projekt Red has done before... far, far bigger."

The resident artist divulged further how the third Witcher game has helped shaped the forthcoming futuristic shooter. According to him, due to the Witcher's complexity, it taught the team the direction that they have to go through.

"We really didn't know what was going to happen. If anything, working on The Witcher 3 was a really good and often brutal learning experience. Cyberpunk is going to benefit greatly from it. I can almost guarantee it," Teixeira said (via Gamespot).

Taking his words, it would be safe to assume that 2077 may turn out to be one of the biggest open world games to be ever made in the cyberpunk genre. It is because most open world RPGs are either sprawling of fantasy or contemporary crime themes but not as sci-fi –esque as "Cyberpunk."

The game was first spoken about back in May 2012. There was no working title back then, although it was known (via GS) that Mike Pondsmith's Cyberpunk pen-and-paper RPG system would be the basis for the game.

According to another article from Gamespot, the development is being handled by "seasoned developers" of CD Projekt Red in Warsaw, Poland. It has also been revealed that it will be a "mature RPG" intended for "mature audiences" as it features heavily of "realistic and brutal" action envisioned in a futuristic universe.

"Cyberpunk 2077" is yet to have a release date. Stay tuned for more updates.
