The Dallas Cowboys will face off against the Washington Redskins in the late afternoon NFL Thanksgiving Day game. The Cowboys will be looking to build upon recent good work that has seen them claw their way back to .500, but no doubt the Redskins will be hoping to spoil the holidays for the the Cowboys. The game is scheduled to start at 4.15 p.m. ET and can be watched online through free live stream via the link provided below.
The Cowboys come into this game with hope; they are now 5-5 and are second in the division just a game off NFC East leaders, the New York Giants. Their playoff hopes are significantly stronger than a few weeks ago, but a loss today against the Redskins could ruin a lot of what they've worked hard to achieve to this point.
The Redskins are third in the division and just a game behind the Cowboys on 4-6. A win today would put them right back in the mix and level them up with Dallas. The Redskins' quarterback Robert Griffin III had a near-perfect performance against the Philadelphia Eagles, and Washington will be hoping that he can repeat that performance today in this all-NFC East match up.
The Cowboys' defensive live up will have their eyes fixed on Griffin III. He has undoubtedly been the star man for the Redskins this season, and Dallas will believe that if they can apply pressure on him and disrupt his game they will have half the job done.
The importance of this game cannot be underestimated. A seventh loss for the Redskins tonight would make their pathway to the postseason extremely difficult indeed. The NFC has a tough line up and seven defeats, although wouldn't make it mathematically impossible for their to make the playoffs, would put Washington on the verge of elimination.
A Dallas loss today would mark six losses for the Cowboys and erase some of the good work they've carried out recently. They would be forced to run the table over the final five games to compete with the Giants for the division title.
Pundits are calling this one a hard one to call as both teams have been so inconsistent over the season until now. However, with the game taking place in front of a packed Cowboys Stadium one would have to give the edge to Dallas for the win. However, one cannot write off the Redskins with Griffin in the line up. He grew up in Copperas Cove, Texas, and would love to get one over on the Cowboys, having grown up rooting for the Denver Broncos while all his friends were fanatical Cowboys fans.
