On the other hand, the Mavericks are breaking expectations and are aboe the .500 mark when most critics expected them to take a drop in the standings.

This is the third match-up between the two teams and they have their last scheduled battle in Dallas on April.

The first two match-ups were taken by the Spurs as they used their excellent squad and made game-defining plays to get the victory.

In the first meeting, the game was relatively close as the Spurs only won by five points. However, in the second meeting, the Spurs firmly showed their dominance over their Texas rivals as they handily beat them by 29 points.

Despite this, no one should discount the chance that the Mavericks have as they have shown in other games that they can hang with the better teams in the league.

With Dirk Nowitzki, Deron Williams and Wesley Matthews in the line-up, anything is possible for Dallas and if they play with a mindset that they have nothing to lose, then they may end up winning.

As for the Spurs, they should continue to do what they are used to and play the style of basketball that has made them successful.

They are easily one of the most dominant teams in the league and getting a 3-0 series lead over the Mavericks will help their cause.
