Brian Gionta opened the scoring for Buffalo in the first period, but Jamie Benn eventually equalised with less than a minute left in the period. In the second, Gionta scored his second of the night when he took a deflected shot during a power play to give the Sabres the lead. Entering the period down 2-1, the Stars leveled things again with Benn as he took a snap shot within the first two minutes to even things up.

However, Matt Moulson gave Buffalo another chance to win with only nine minutes left to play with a wrister to put them up 3-2. Patrick Eaves and Cody Eakin were not to be denied, however, as it only took less than two minutes for Eaves to respond with a wrister, before Eakin finished the game off in the 57th minute for the victory.

Meanwhile, the Flames recently beat the Colorado Avalanche 3-2. They were abysmal in their last few games, winning only one of their last four but responded with a great home win over Colorado.

David Jones, Jin Hudler and Lance Bouma all scored for the Flames in the victory, giving the Avalanche their second straight defeat.

Dallas and Calgary have only met once so far this season, with the Stars pulling out a 2-1 win in Canada. Benn and Trevor Daley scored in the second period and proved to be enough to get two points in the away game.

Look for Calgary to respond in this match up.
