'Dancing With the Stars' Cast News, Update: Steve Irwin's Daughter Joins Season 21

Bindi Irwin, a wildlife conservationist and daughter to the beloved and late "Crocodile Hunter," Steve Irwin, was announced to be the first celebrity dancer confirmed to join the latest season of ABC's hit reality TV dance competition series, "Dancing With the Stars."

The 17-year-old went over to her social media to tell her followers that she was "unbelievably thrilled and truly blessed to be in the City of Angels and to be part of this season of Dancing With the Stars."

"This will be a completely new adventure for me and I'm excited to share my journey. Life is about daring to dream, I'm in love with this city and ready to fall in love with the music and dance to come," she went on to say on her Facebook (via CNN).

In a separate statement cited by Yahoo, the younger Irwin said that joining the dance competition is "completely different to anything I have ever done in my life" where she was "used to wrangling crocodiles." Other than that, she was "honored" to be on the show.

"I actually just got back from our annual crocodile research trip," she was quoted as saying (via Yahoo). "About four days ago I was in far north Queensland catching crocs and now here I am in New York City, about to be in LA."

The girl who co-wrote a book series titled "Bindi Wildlife Adventures" is no stranger to dancing. In fact, it was revealed that she has her own dance troupe named "The Jungle Girls." Yahoo also divulged that Bindi has also danced in a kids' fitness video.

However, it remains to be found out if her past experiences will give her the edge against the other celebrity performers whom she will face when the show premieres this September 14.

Meanwhile, the full lineup of pro dancers returning for "Dancing With the Stars" Season 21 was announced last week where the names mentioned include Derek Hough, Karina Smirnoff, and Mark Ballas.
