Monday has marked the third performance of season 13’s “DWTS” as the ten remaining couples compete for the mirror ball trophy.
The episode, entitled “Most Memorable Year of my Life,” allowed the stars-turned-dancers to share their most emotional experiences with viewers.
Leading the scoreboard for the second week in a row, Ricki Lake and partner Derek Hough danced the Rumba to music by Sara Bareilles; earning 27 points out of a possible score of 30 from the judges’ panel.
Trailing by one point, singer Chynna Phillips earned 26 points for her Rumba with dance partner Tony Dovolani. She selected the song “Hold On” by her former musical group Wilson Phillips.
J.R. Martinez had one of the most touching performances of the night dancing the Rumba to Tim McGraw’s “If You’re Reading This,” which he dedicated to military personnel. The actor was wounded while serving in the Army in Iraq, suffering burns on 40 percent of his body. His face is severely disfigured, and he now travels across the country as a motivational speaker at veterans groups and other organizations. Martinez and his partner, Karina Smirnoff, earned 26 points.
Rob Kardashian was told by the judges he put the “dash” in Kardashian. The reality TV star of “Keeping Up with the Kardashians” danced to Frank Sinatra’s “Fly Me to the Moon” as a tribute to his late father. He and his dancing partner Cheryl Burke earned 24 points out of 30 for their Foxtrot.
Carson Kressley scored 23 points for his Tango to a song by No Doubt. Kressley, who is openly gay, celebrated the year his former show “Queer Eye for the Straight Guy” premiered.
