'Dancing With the Stars' Season 19 Week 2 Recap: Pairs Perform 'My Jam Monday'

"Dancing With The Stars" put it's contestants in their comfort zones as they take control of their dance music for this week. On Monday Sept. 22, the celebrities got to choose a song to dance to for "My Jam Monday." Some of them knew that they had to do better this week, particularly those who were in the bottom four — Jones, Betsey Johnson, Lea Thompson, and Michael Waltrip— while others who did well during the first performance night felt like they had to live up to their scores.

Here's a recap of the performances and scores from the remaining contestants:

Randy Couture and Karina Smirnoff
Score: 28 out of 40
Couture picked The Rolling Stones' "I Can't Get No Satisfaction" for his cha-cha with Smirnoff. Len Goodman praised his enthusiasm but advised the UFC star to watch his footwork.

Janel Parrish and Val Chmerkovskiy
Score: 34 out of 40
Fans of the show noted the chemistry between the two, and many are saying that they could be this season's Meryl (Davis, champion of Season 18) and Maks (Chmerkovskiy). Parrish selected Carly Rae Jepsen's "Call Me Maybe" for their foxtrot, which was praised by the judges.

Lea Thompson and Artem Chigvintsev
Score: 35 out of 40
Though the "Back to the Future" actress was feeling down after being in the bottom four last week, she focused on rehearsals and danced the jive to "Land of a Thousand Dances." Her performance got rave reviews from the judges, with Carrie Ann Inaba saying, "That was so exciting!"

Michael Waltrip and Emma Slater
Score: 24 out of 40
Waltrip's samba to "Girls in Bikinis" lacked technique, but was praised anyway by the judges. Goodman deemed his performance as "wild and wacky."

Tavis Smiley and Sharna Burgess
Score: 28 out of 40
Smiley's cha-cha to Earth, Wind and Fire's "Boogie Wonderland" was not his best, but Hough thought that he "sold it".

Alfonso Ribeiro and Witney Carson
Score: 32 out of 40
Ribeiro picked Will Smith's "Getting' Jiggy Wit It" for his samba, and Inaba said that his performance was "solid, but not his best."

Bethany Mota and Derek Hough
Score: 33 out of 40
Though Mota was suffering from an ankle injury, she and Hough performed an impressive foxtrot to "All About the Bass."

Betsey Johnson and Tony Dovolani
Score: 28 out of 40
Though the designer had a prop malfunction last week, she bounced back with an elegant foxtrot to "Girls Just Want to Have Fun".

Antonio Sabato Jr. and Cheryl Burke
Score: 31 out of 40
The former Calvin Klein model danced the rhumba to Miguel's "Adorn" and Hough said that his performance was an improvement over last week's dance.

Tommy Chong and Peta Murgatroyd
Score: 28 out of 40
Chong's salsa to "Higher" prompted Bruno Tonioli to say that he was an "inspiration"

Jonathan Bennett and Allison Holker
Score: 30 out of 40
The "Mean Girls" star danced the cha-cha to Ed Sheeran's "Sing," but although the judges praised Bennett's energy, they had issues with the choreography. "It was a great performance, but there was not enough cha-cha in it," said Inaba.

Sadie Robertson and Mark Ballas
Score: 31 out of 40
"It somehow didn't quite gel for me" said Goodman of Robertson's jazz routine to "She's Country."
