Dancing With the Stars Week 2 Scores and Reviews: Elimination Tuesday

The eleven remaining couples on “Dancing with the Stars” have displayed their dancing skills again with either the jive or the quickstep.

Last night, the contestants returned to the dance floor soliciting the judge’s critiques. Some stars improved, while others slipped to the bottom.

Carrie Ann Inaba, Len Goodman, and Bruno Toniolo serve as judges on season 13 of “DWTS,” and dished honest and sometimes brutal scores to contestants.

Former talk show host Ricki Lake now resides at the top of the leader board after last night’s high energy performance with professional dance partner Derek Hough. They earned 23 out of 30 points from the panel of judges.

Of Lake’s performance, Inaba said, “Best jive of the night so far!”

Chaz Bono has fallen to the very bottom of the scoreboard, earning 17 points for his quickstep with partner Lacey Schwimmer.

“Your charm can only take you so far,” Inaba told Bono. “It doesn’t cover the fact that you didn’t dance quickly and this is a quickstep.”

Of former “Hills” star Kristin Cavallari’s performance, Judge Inaba said, “Last week, nervous. This week, sophisticated, stunning!”

Cavallari and her partner Mark Ballas earned 22 points for their quickstep.

The second week of the competition has brought insecurity out of contestants, such as Rob Kardashian complaining about his weight and Nancy Grace shedding tears over last week’s performance and trying to learn the quickstep.

While Kardashian was deemed a better dancer than his sister Kim was on the past season of “DWTS,” he and his partner Cheryl Burke earned 21 of 30 points.

Grace and her partner Tristan MacManus also earned 21 points after their quickstep. Grace narrowly avoided a wardrobe malfunction during the show, but still earned praise from Judge Bruno, who said, “Vivacious! Alive! And confident!”

Last week’s leader, Chynna Phillips, tied Kardashian and Grace with 21 points and was complimented again on her graceful dancing style. During rehearsal, the frustrated singer said to her professional dance partner Tony Dovolani, “Sometimes dancing is so hard, there’s nothing you can do BUT curse!”

She added, “Sorry Jesus I have to curse!”

The complete list of scores is as follows:

Ricki Lake and Derek Hough: 23
J.R. Martinez and Karina Smirnoff: 22
